Bio: Matthew was 35 pounds overweight when he joined Arizona State’s ROTC program. But he learned how to eat right and found the motivation he needed to make exercise a priority. Matthew says getting in shape changed his life and he’s been inspired to help others do the same. His principle is to keep fitness fun and is happy to swap a hike up Camelback Mountain for a run. But make no mistake, he’s tough. Sashia found out the hard way when missing a morning workout earned her an hour of sprints.

Bio: Sashia starts this competition frustrated because she used to be in shape. In high school she wrestled and was captain of her swim team. These days she gets exercise by salsa dancing, but admits it’s only once a week and doesn’t make up for the bread and chocolate she loves to eat. She says motivation and time management have kept her from doing more, but she’s concerned her family history of diabetes will catch up with her if she doesn’t change her lifestyle. Sashia is partnered with Tresnae, her best friend since sophomore year of high school, in this competition.

Bio: Along with motivation and bad eating habits Tresnae is up against a tough medical history. When she was 16 doctors found a tumor on one of her ovaries. The tumor was successfully removed but the medication she was put on afterward caused her to gain 40 pounds in two months. Around the same time she developed a condition called Endometriosis which causes severe abdominal pain. Through this competition Tresnae fights through her pain to lose that post-op weight.
