Move over Holden Caulfield and Jane Eyre: Master Chief is about to join the party.
This fall, the English department will be offering a class that focuses on video games and video game writing. ENG 298, or Analysis and Criticism of Video Games, is the first class of its kind offered by the UM-Flint English department.
“People in the department seemed pretty interested when I brought up the idea,” James Schirmer, the instructor of the course said. The class will meet Tuesdays and Thursdays, from 11:00 a.m.-12:15 p.m.
The course will focus on an array of issues regarding the video game world. “We’re going to be talking about the big things, like sex and violence in video games and what it all means,” Schirmer said. “And we’re also going to be discussing art in video games - I’m hoping for a good discussion in particular on that.”…Click here to read the rest of this article
