Turn on the red lights, adjust your sunglasses and push your hair down in front of your eyes. We’ve got Editors in the house. The British mood-merchants, though busy promoting their latest full-length, An End Has A Start, were easy enough to pin down to the Hot Seat for an interrogation. Q: Tell us about your craziest touring experience.
A: We have toured the world and there have been many moments that are lost and many that involve crazy people. Spending just over 24 hours in New Zealand to do one gig is quite mad considering it’s the furthest you can possibly go round the planet.
Q: What type of college class would you’d most want to take and why?
A: I really need to learn another language. French or Spanish, I suppose. It’s terrible visiting so many places and not being able to speak the language at all.
Q: What city in America is the most fun to visit and why?
A: San Francisco is a vibey place and very cool. Always a good time.
Q: What’s some of the best advice you were ever given?
A: “Don’t do that,” by my mum, has saved me from many, many things.
Q: What’s in heavy rotation in your MP3/CD player right now?
A: Mobius Band’s Heaven. A great, great pop record.
Q: The last good book you read or TV show you’re addicted to.
A: I have been addicted to Prison Break since it came out. It is the best TV program ever!
Q: What’s the first concert you ever saw - how was it?
A: I saw Metallica when I was 13. It was awesome!
Q: What are three items you can’t live without on tour?
A: Laptop, MP3 player/stereo and book. Other than that, all fine and dandy.
Q: Who are your major musical influences?
A: In no particular order: Nirvana, Elbow, The Walkmen, The National, Radiohead, R.E.M., Spiritiualized, Henryk Gorecki and David Bowie, to name a few.
Q: Any random messages or tips you’d like to give to mtvU watchers?
A: Keep it real and stay in school.
