Pick This Week’s Best Freshmen Video
Posted February 7th, 2011 by LindsayNick van de Wall’s stage name is Afrojack, a well-known DJ and respected producer in the music industry. Washington DC rapper Boobe’s track “My Way” was produced by the J.U.S.T.I.C.E. League. General Fiasco is a group from Belfast in Northern Ireland. Hip-hop artist Kokayi brings his single “RoxTar” to mtvU’s Freshmen. Sean Strange is an artist hailing from New York.

Afrojack ft. Eva Simons
“Take Over Control”
I like the way that this video uses gritty scenery to highlight the sexiness of Eva Simons, using the desert background to make her appearance and vocals really pop.
Boobe ft. Raheem DeVaughn
“My Way”
This track brings a lot of energy and confidence with a video to match; it’s about capturing the most out of life and carving out your place. Exactly the way you want to do it.
General Fiasco
“Ever So Shy”
The bright video is a wonderful contrast to the feelings expressed in the song; the frustration of youth and being stuck in one spot. The video is really able to express the exuberance of venting, of making an attempt to bust free.
Kokayi ft. The Rock-afire Explosion
“RoxTar”
There’s a very playful element to this video. Kokayi knows how to add a bit of humor. He doesn’t want to share the stage with anyone and he pokes fun at himself by adding a “cast of characters” instead.
Sean Strange
“Walk The Line”
A track and a video that reflect strong personal mantras and triumph over major obstacles and personal doubt.
