“In A Hurry”
First of all, I’m glad to see a hip-hop video that changes up locales a little bit. I know and understand why hip-hop videos usually revolve around urban cities as it’s an urban-centric genre, but that makes the juxtaposition here very eye-catching and fresh. I also like how the media is addressed in a very tongue-in-cheek manner, but the artists’ personal responsibility is taken into account as well.

“Teach Me How To Dougie”
There’s no bones about it, dance move video’s such as these are meant to be frivolous and fun. The video is incredibly entertaining to watch, although I was wondering when a stanza was going to come in. (Answer: takes just over a minute.) It’s not anything groundbreaking but it does its job.
Sam Adams
“Driving Me Crazy”
This song distracts me because I can’t help but be concerned about this man’s attitude towards women. For one, he’s obviously very young and is taking hip hop’s typical treatment of women as mere sex objects to its usual extreme. But I’ll say it again… he appears to be SO young. So I find it even more disturbing than I usually do. (Plus his swagger is SO over-the-top, it’s borderline ridiculous.) The auto-tune and standard sampling don’t do the track any great favors either. He has talent and I think he should find a more unique approach to his lyrics if he wants to find a way to stand out. Shock value wears off after a while.
Sons Of Sylvia
“Love Left To Lose”
I like how these guys have equal parts of country and rock infused into their look and sound. And I can understand the mass appeal of this song. It’s not really for me, but I think sometimes people just need music that is easy to sing along to with lyrics that a large group of people can universally understand. This group has a strong sound and a cute back story (they’re all brothers and all their names start with the letter A) so I would expect to hear and see a lot more from them in the future.
Wiz Khalifa
“This Plane”
I think Wiz Khalifa is a talented rapper and the metaphors he puts to work in this song are exceptionally on-point. Therefore, the video was a bit of a let-down, simply because it didn’t reach the heights of the song itself. (See what I did there?) But, I think what I enjoy most about him is that it becomes clear, watching him perform, that he has such a positive attitude; he genuinely seems to be enjoying his work and talent.
