Our Favorite Things: PJ Harvey, Silversun Pickups, MSTRKRFT, Twitter, and Zack Returns!

Company of Thieves

MSTRKRFT

Lindsay’s List

1. The Vanguard is following me on Twitter! O hai there guys. I really enjoy the song “Both Sides” and am sad to see I missed you last night. I’m going to Friendly Fires this evening. Boo. (Well hurray actually, but you know what I mean.)

2. It’s not like I am super jazzed about The Lemonheads or anything but I am PUMPED about Kate Moss singing with The Lemonheads. I have this inexplicable love of Kate Moss for no reason whatsoever. Even when she was going through her whole -ahem- Pete Doherty scandal. There is something hilariously twisted about her crooning, “Is she as beautiful as me?” in a super-smug superior tone on The Libertines “La Belle et La Bete.” Is it wrong to be curious about what she will do now?

3. PJ Harvey and John Parish’s new video for “Black Hearted Love.” This is one sick twisted love song. I llliiikkkkeee it. You know what else I like? Jumping on moon bounces in the rain while light bulbs explode. Don’t listen to anyone who tells you it’s dangerous or starts mumbling something about being electrocuted. WHATEVER.

Taylor’s List

1. The scene in I Love You, Man where Paul Rudd keeps saying, “slappin’ da bass, man.” The hardest I’ve laughed in a theater in a good long while.

2. The new Silversun Pickups album, Swoon. I didn’t expect to like this album too much, their debut album was good (especially “Lazy Eye”) but got a little samey at times. After a couple of listens though, I’ve been really impressed. A lot of solid memorable songs on there.

3. Aziz Ansari’s (of Human Giant, Scrubs, Parks & Rec. fame) twitter. Whether he’s making Wire/Lost/Friday Night Lights references, giving behind-the-scenes info on his projects, or talking about what he’s eating at the moment, it is a must read. [Ed.'s note: you can also follow Taylor's twitter @musicforants]

Adrian’s List

1. I’m guessing that at least two of us are going to mention the new Where the Wild Things Are Trailer- so psyched. [Ed.'s note: Nope. Not here. But Lindsay mentioned in her "Stuff iLike" feature this week. And now she also knows Adrian does not read it. Yep.] So instead: what the hell, seriously, Sean Penn and Benicio Del Toro in the Three Stooges? Am I missing something?

2. Everything MSTRKRFT touches turns into gold. Here’s their remix of the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s “Zero.”

3. Not that it’s a thing that happened this week per se, but while Watchmen fever is still going around, check out this recent GQ article on the 20 best graphic novels. I haven’t read everything on the list, but you can bet that I’m going to once I have less work to do.

Zack’s List

1. I have been spending the last eight days on Spring Break in Ireland, London, and most recently Barcelona. The experience has been amazing, and the music in Europe has been cutting edge, making me feel embarrassed to be American. Who knew the Brits loved Kings of Leon so much?

2. Speaking of travels in Europe, I have been to quite a few pubs/clubs/bars in the past few days, and one song that has consistently found its way onto the ole’ jukebox is Friendly Fires’ “Skeleton Boy”, thus solidifying Europe as way cooler than us in every way. Check out their video I premiered here a few weeks back.

3. I quit biting my nails for the first time since I was five years old. As unexciting as that might sound to you, cleaning my nails has become my absolute favorite thing in the world. So there. [Ed.'s note: Ew. That's gross.]
