Hockey
Alright so, this has been an insanely crazy week what with Ahead of the Curve and all so this is going to be a very to the point “Stuff iLike” feature this week.
What do I like? Max Drummey’s marching band hat. Why does he need a reason? Chester French released their debut album Love the Future this week, I’ll come back with more thoughts once I’ve had time to give it a proper listen. I will note that you have to admire how D.A. Wallach integrates new media into his life-style and has used Twitter in particular as a platform to reach out to his fans. I’m curious to see if he’ll be able to keep that up.
Every once in a while my fellow mtvU blogger Taylor does a fabulous feature on his own blog Music for Kids Who Can’t Read Good called “Commerical Watch” where he notes the indie music that advertising is currently using to sell you stuff you don’t really need but want anyways. Last week’s round-up included both The Sea and the Cake and unfortunately disbanded group The Unicorns so take a peek and give Taylor some well-deserved traffic.
Justin Vernon, aka Bon Iver, went back to his old high school to perform with the jazz band. Yes. It is one of the cutest things that you will ever view in your entire life. It’s so cute that it is taking all my will-power not to pack my bags and move to Wisconsin. (All the men there are like him right?) They do a few songs off For Emma For Ever Ago and then switch to old jazz standards like “Since I Fell For You.” If this guy gets any more modest in the face of his great success… well. I don’t know what I’ll do. But it will be drastic! He makes the rest of us look like such schmucks.
Guys. So I’ve already been schilling this band today but seriously. Hockey. Check them out. (Also, good luck to my Rangers tonight who really need to step it up and beat the crap out of Zack’s Washington Capitals.)
Until next week! Don’t forget to follow me on Twitter! I’ve been getting lots of new followers lately and I am LOVING it!
Oh yah and all my single ladies put your hands up!
