Veckatimest Out TODAY, New Stuff From The National and The Beastie Boys

Beastie Boys

Hey all. You know the drill. Just some Stuff iLike.

Everyone and their mom knows by now that Grizzly Bear’s new LP The Veckatimest is out today and has also been streaming on the band’s MySpace throughout the holiday weekend. Paul Thompson at Pitchfork has left me speechless by giving the record a 9.0 (I don’t think that I personally have ever witnessed such a catalytic event before) and… I have no words. But the band has delightfully agreed to bow to my whims and roll into NYC this week so see you on Friday boys.

Ever since I had the chance to hear some new stuff from The National at the Dark Was the Night show, I’ve been craving more. So thanks Stereogum for “Blood Buzz Ohio” and “The Runaway.” Matt Berninger is currently topping the list of my favorite gangly nerds. (Love that man.)

Dddduuuuddddeee. The Beastie Boys have grey hair. How weird is that?! But they’re naming their new album Hot Sauce Committee, which could possibly be one of the coolest album names ever, and they performed “So Whatcha Want” with The Roots on Fallon so they continue to prove their cultural relevance and ultimate awesomeness while Jimmy awkwardly stutters through it all. (Cheers to Matt at You Ain’t No Picasso for the link.)

Just to reiterate that I will be seeing Grizzly Bear LIVE on FRIDAY, please enjoy the video for “Two Weeks” below:
