Flosstradamus Gets All Original on Y’all

For those of you who neglected my last post about the Chicago duo of Flosstradamus (HERE), here’s what you missed: They are awesome live, make fantastic mash-ups, are part of the wave of awesome new Chicagoan hipsters (see: Cool Kids, Hood Internet), and one of the two is Kid Sister’s brother…confusing, I know. What you did not catch from the last post is that they just recently teamed up with Caroline Polachek (of Chairlift fame) to create their first original single, “Big Bills”. The song is pure, unashamed synth pop at its finest. Every time I play this song, which has been quite a lot recently, I imagine young, attractive coeds in silly jumpsuits nonchalantly prancing around a room filled with technicolor disco balls. Basically, I picture that iPod commercial with Feist. Fortunately, the guys had a similar image in their heads, as evidenced by the accompanying video below. J2K and Autobot don’t really dance or move or anything (they are DJs, after all), Caroline Polachek looks mighty fine bobbing around behind some flashing lights and doing her best to play the part of the fine young ladies in my head. If Flosstradamus originals all end up sounding like this, expect to find me camping outside the record store downloading and bumping the tracks as soon as they drop.

Love,
Zack
