Chromeo + Kiddies = Magic

Chromeo on Yo Gabba GabbaI’m slightly unfamiliar with Yo Gabba Gabba but it looks like I’m going to start getting very knowledgeable about its content as they have some excellent indie-music performances for the kiddies! School ‘em young. It has the feel of a normal kid’s show by which I mean everyone is enthusiastically smiling and you’re not quite sure how the writers ever came up with such characters. Um. Maybe they were locked in a room passing the… uuuhhh… “pretzels” around. But isn’t that how all kid’s shows seem to be even from back in the day when I was just a wee one? I mean, my favorite show was Jim Henson’s Fraggle Rock- what the hell is a Fraggle? Why do they like radishes so much? Why are they eating the Doozers buildings?! Why are they talking to that compost heap? (How awesome were the Doozers? Little green guys, construction hats… Jim Henson was such a genius.) But I guess if Sponge Bob Squarepants lives in a pineapple under the sea anything is possible.

But we’re not here to talk about Yo Gabba Gabba, really. (Although if I had some rugrats I would for sure let them watch this program.) We’re here to talk about CCCCHHHHRRRROOOOMMMMEEEEOOOO - OOOOOOOOO-OH. Hands down, one of my favorite groups of all time. They made an appearance on the kiddies show last week to teach children the importance of cleanliness. They are always such fun. And how better to demonstrate this than by sticking them on gigantic sponges and having P-Thugg trying to look so kid-friendly he appears a tad delusional? For gods sake P, wash your hands! Haha, loves it. Do children even know what a talkbox is? That’s my question. “Mommy what is that man doing?” “Oh honey, that’s a talkbox. Remember when we listened to Kayne last week? You know what that is!” Honestly, this is just perfect for the group. Perfect all around. Dave 1 never fails to seem as if he is having the best time of his life and my SERIOUS crush on him continues to grow. He speaks fluent French, ok? That’s hot. (I sound like Paris Hilton today.) Anyways when I met him at the mtvU Woodie Awards I was trying to play the role of cool fan and have regretted ever since. I should have just given him my number. Damn it.

Anywhoo, personal regrets aside, please know I am sharing from Stereogum, who gave me a wonderful start to my Monday morning. Click on this link to check out their post.

Did this leave you hungering for more Chromeo? Is this the first you’ve heard of the group? Let me know. And let’s all cross fingers and hope they’re hard at work on that next album.
