Welcome to our first ever Required Listening a blog crush-a-thon wherein we laud praise and adoration upon the things that have been relentlessly streaming into our earholes, dilating our pupils and causing surges of fanboy/girl love bliss. In other words, it’s an ongoing rundown of all the cool music and stuff that we’ve seen of late that should be considered prerequisite. Because the good music, the crazy videos and the loveable artists (just like Zombies) NEVER. STOP. COMING. Out of pure motiviation to ensure your proper education here’s what we’re in love with this week, may you share in our waves of hormonally charged audiovisual ecstasy (or at least find something new that interests you:)
MONSTA’s monstrously popular “Holdin On”
MONSTA is an ambitious EDM trio that is signed to Skrillex’s label OWSLA. This video has been our most popular premiere this year. The song is catchy enough but pair it with the damaged yet gorgeous waif on the verge of self destruction you see gif’ed above and you have a winning formula.
ABADABAD Is So AGOODAGOOD
Have you seen our show College Radio Countdown? No! It plugs right into the hearts of college radio by asking top college stations to program their Top 10 videos. In addition said stations send us their favorite college and local stuff to feature on our Tumblr. That’s how we found out about the amazing Jeremy Lee of ABADABAD. He sings, plays bass, guitar and keys and we love him. See for yourself below with the video for “Park Slope (I’m Sorry)”. You can hear some of the best of Bowie in there and you know you want to make out in the park after dark with this tune blasting out of your open car windows.
For The TEEN In You
We added this video to rotation a few weeks ago and I can’t stop coming back to it. Teen is Teeny Lieberson from the other cool band Here We Go Magic, but here she plays with her sisters Katherine & Lizzie as well as Jane Herships, and they are all so naturally, effortlessly cool (and acrobatic) that you concurrently envy and want to close down bars with them. It also helps that the song is pure unadulterated fun perfect for the teen in you.
See what I mean by acrobatic:

Proof they’re awesome: Teen “Better”
That’s enough required listening for now. Till next time.
