After making a name for themselves on the Chicago post-hardcore scene, Fall Out Boy has broken through to nationwide acclaim with the recent release of the their second full-length, From Under the Cork Tree. The album’s propulsive melodies and witty, incisive lyrics have solidified the band’s hard-earned rep as some of pop-punk’s finest practicioners. Fall Out Boy bassist and lyricist Pete Wentz recently took time out from the band’s busy Warped Tour schedule to brave mtvU’s Hot Seat and fill us in on the necessity of baby wipes, his secret identity as a Parrot Head and more.

Q: Tell us about your craziest touring experience.
A: Drawing on the face of the singer from The Reunion Show while he was passed out and then getting kicked off the tour and let back on.
Q: What type of college class would you most want to take and why?
A: I always liked political science and history classes. Probably anything that happened after 12 in the afternoon.
Q: What city in America is the most fun to visit and why?
A: Chicago. It’s just the most comfortable for us.
Q: What’s some of the best advice you were ever given?
A: Sleep is the cousin of death.
