This week, The Cliks sit down in our Hot Seat and answer our burning questions.
1. Tell us about your craziest touring experience.
The first True Colors tour. Why was it crazy? Beyond being on stage with Cyndi Lauper and Debbie Harry which was completely surreal, and being in a 16 passenger van with 5 people, all our gear and chasing a bus tour…I was attacked every night by Margaret Cho’s lips and tongue down my throat every time I finished the last song of the set, on stage, in front of thousands of people.
2. What type of college class would you’d most want to take and why?
How to drink and not get a hangover 101. I think it’s self explanitory.
3. What city in America is the most fun to visit and why?
New York City. Because, it’s New York City. Come on!
4. What’s some of the best advice you were ever given?
Be yourself no matter how many people tell you you’re wrong for it.
5. What’s in heavy rotation in your MP3/CD player right now?
Novice Theory. Band out of Brooklyn headed by Geo Wyeth.
6. The last good book you read or TV show you’re addicted to.
Book- A Thousand Splendid Suns by Khaled Hosseini and TV show, Criminal Minds. I love that Mathew Gray Gubler fellow.
7. What’s the first concert you ever saw - how was it?
W.A.S.P. opening up for Black Sabbath. It ROCKED! I was 14 and I had 7th row floor seats.
8. What are three items you can’t live without on tour?
Lap top, I pod, coffee (does that count as an item?)
9. Who are your major musical influences?
David Bowie, The Beatles, Jeff Buckley, Concrete Blonde, George Michael, Lenny Kravitz, The Pretenders, Elvis…Yes, Elvis.
10. Any random messages or tips you’d like to give to mtvU watchers?
Always brush your teeth after meals. Don’t brush too hard. It recedes your gums apparently and the only way to fix that is to apparently take a big huge chunk of skin from the roof of your mouth and surgically attach it to your gums. So says a friend of mine.
Oh…And always, always listen to The Cliks song “Falling Overboard” when having sex.
