They’re probably not gonna like this, but we gotta tell you, Metro Station’s got some… ermmm… let’s call it “royal” blood. Shredder in chief Trace Cyrus is achy breaky Billy Ray Cyrus’s son making the Hannah Montana his little sister. Cyrus’s bandmate Michael Musso is older brother to Mitchel who plays Hannah Montana love interest, Oliver Oken. So it could be argued that Metro Station, like the great Britney and Justin before them, are a beautiful musical marriage officiated by the Disney Channel. But will this rollicking electro-pop pairing survive the trials of fame? With raging fans and a little help from bros in Motion City Soundtrack, it’s looking like smooth sailing. But why don’t you read on and decide for yourself?

Q: Tell us about your craziest touring experience.
A: We haven’t had too many crazy things happen, but one time Trace called Anthony and told him I fell out of a fifth story window. I have no idea how Anthony could have believed that, but he was pretty distraught.
Q: What type of college class would you’d most want to take and why?
A: I would take accounting if it’d help me figure out how my money disappears so fast. I actually did take a financial management class in college, but I still have no clue what all those formulas meant.
Q: What city in America is the most fun to visit and why?
A: New York is my favorite to visit because I have friends there and the culture is so different from LA. There’s a great energy to New York. Dallas is my favorite to play because the crowd is always crazy.
Q: What’s some of the best advice you were ever given?
A: Be persistent. There have been plenty of times that I never thought I could accomplish my goals, but I seem to eventually reach them if I give it enough time and put enough work into it.
Q: What’s in heavy rotation in your MP3/CD player right now?
A: I’m hopelessly addicted to Motion City Soundtrack. Somehow I can watch their entire set every night and still listen to their albums during the day when we’re driving to the next show. I also just discovered Plushgun, who I also can’t get enough of.
Q: The last good book you read or TV show you’re addicted to.
A: I used to never watch TV until a friend of mine got the first two seasons of House on DVD. I was hooked. I didn’t even know there were good shows on TV before that. Since then I started watching Lost and Entourage.
Q: What’s the first concert you ever saw - how was it?
A: I’m way too embarrassed to say what my first concert was, but I’ll admit that my mom took me and I bought a hat. I used to like a lot of cheesy pop music when I was a youngster. I guess maybe I still do…
Q: What are three items you can’t live without on tour?
A: I need my laptop so I can keep in touch with friends online and work on music. I need my mp3 player so I can crank it up, close my eyes, and pretend I’m alone instead of crammed in a van with six other people. I also couldn’t live without my phone. It’s my number one gadget.
Q: Who are your major musical influences?
A: The Faint, OMD, New Order, Depeche Mode, The Postal Service, and any other band with synthesizers and pop melodies.
Q: Any random messages or tips you’d like to give to mtvU watchers?
A: Go do something crazy. Seize the day. Live a little, it’s the nineties.
