This week Japanese Motors’s Alex Knost lands in The Hot Seat and fills us the in on, why he’s interested in studying underwater basket weaving, among other things.

Q: Tell us about your craziest touring experience.

Alex: It always gets good when every cd that we have in the van gets scratched.

Q: What type of college class would you’d most want to take and why?

Alex: Underwater basket weaving, so I could weave all of my baskets in the sink.

Q: What city in America is the most fun to visit and why?

Alex: All of the places we haven’t been.

Q: What’s some of the best advice you were ever given?

Alex: “There is nothing in the world that matters less than opinion”

Q: The last good book you read or TV show you’re addicted to.

Alex: I don’t watch tv really, and doing one thing for a long period of time that usually involves isolated thought doesn’t interest me.

Q: What’s the first concert you ever saw - how was it?

Alex: KISS, they were one of my favorite groups when I was 17, when I saw them I was on cloud nine.

Q: What are three items you can’t live without on tour?

Alex: Pens and paper, sunglasses, coffee.

Q: Who are your major musical influences?

Alex: All the bands in our hometown that are better than our band. .

Alex: You can use tooth paste for zit cream.
