Chiddy Bang

Hot on the heels of their win on The Freshmen, Noah and Chiddy from Chiddy Bang sit down and answer our burning questions in this week’s Hot Seat.

1. Tell us about your craziest touring experience.

Noah : Probably the craziest was when we played a show at Stanford. They had snow machines, and halfway through our set, an army of naked people rushed the stage. I guess they do that at shows there, they had war paint on and everything. Security tried to tackle them, but there were to many.

2. What type of college class would you’d most want to take and why?

Chiddy: I wanna learn French, i’m real fascinated with their culture.

Noah: It’d be cool to learn cooking, I’m trynna get my culinary game up for future tours.

3. What city in America is the most fun to visit and why?

Chiddy: I love LA, the weather, the girls, & the people are real relaxed.

Noah: On the topic of weather, and general vibe, I like San Francisco (Second to Philly of course).

4. What’s some of the best advice you were ever given?

Noah: At one of our earlier shows at the roots’ jam sessions, Black Thought told us to stop telling the audience the name of every song, and what it was about. He was absolutely right, sometimes you just gotta do the damn thing.

5. What’s in heavy rotation in your MP3/CD player right now?

Noah: Black Milk, Darwin Deez

Chiddy: 2AM Club, Eldee The Don, Hockey

6. The last good book you read or TV show you’re addicted to.

Chiddy: I just read this book about the origins of walmart, it was real dope.

Noah: I don’t watch alot of TV but I did once stay up for 24hrs with my roommates watching ‘America’s Best Dance Crew.’

7. What’s the first concert you ever saw - how was it?

Chiddy: I never got to go to that many concerts, though when we opened for
Mike Jones and DJ Jazzy Jeff, I spent the rest of the show watching from the crowd. Jazzy Jeff went in!

Noah: I used to go to lots of Jazz shows when I was really little, Odean Pope, Stanley Clarke, Sonny Rollins, etc. Probably the first show I went to on my own was I saw the Roots play in Clark Park by accident when I was like 14.

8. What are three items you can’t live without on tour?

Chiddy: Laptop, phone, lucky hat

Noah: something to make beats on, clean socks, water.

9. Who are your major musical influences?

Chiddy : Early Jay-Z, Kanye, Fugees

Noah : Joe Strummer & J Dilla, that’s all i need.

Any random messages or tips you’d like to give to mtvU watchers?

Noah: Don’t wait until after college to start doing what you want to do.

Chiddy: Yeah, and follow us on twitter, @realchiddy, & @xaphoonjones
