Cage takes a break from making videos with his mega-star buddy, Shia LeBoeuf, to answer our questions in this week’s Hot Seat.
1. Tell us about your craziest touring experience.
Cage: That would be on the Hell’s Winter tour in 05. Camu Tao (RIP) was with us, Shia was filming a documentary on me and we were trying out new ways to perform at shows. We were trying to NOT perform like regular rappers so we started performing like we were in HC or Punk bands. I was diving into monitors and even taping my arm to my side to avoid that damn pantomiming rap arm. Picture if you will Ash’s crazy hand in Evil Dead 2.
2. What type of college class would you’d most want to take and why?
Cage: Well I never graduated high school so I would love to attend ANY course in college.
3. What city in America is the most fun to visit and why?
Cage: Every city seems to have some redeeming qualities. I’m not into having favorites.
4. What’s some of the best advice you were ever given?
Cage: Look both ways before crossing the street. It really does work in everything you apply it to.
5. What’s in heavy rotation in your MP3/CD player right now?
Cage: The new Camu Tao album - King of Hearts,Yak Ballz’ Scifentology 2, The Rivers Cuomo demo’s, Robby the Werewolf and Grauzone.
6. The last good book you read or TV show you’re addicted to.
Cage: Lost. Doesn’t the Jacob character look a lot like El-P?
7. What’s the first concert you ever saw - how was it?
Cage: Hewy Lewis and The News it was SICK from what I remember as a child. I also thought matchbox cars were Godlike. Did you ever see the video of them all in bed together? See it now!
8. What are three items you can’t live without on tour?
Cage: My balls because they are my word. My mouth because words come out of it and my brain because it thinks them up. Without those three its a tour FAIL.
9. Who are your major musical influences?
Cage: Slick Rick, Sonic Youth, Dead Kennedys, Johnny Rotten, Skooly D, Krs one, Nirvana, Beastie Boys, Steve Albini, Tero Smith (Camu Tao) and on and on and on.
