The Hot Seat: Band of Skulls

Band of SkullsBand of Skulls provide us some insight into their skulls by answering our burning questions in this week’s Hot Seat.

1. Tell us about your craziest touring experience.
Band of Skulls: It’s all crazy. Can’t think of anything without name dropping, and that’s against band rules as it incurs the name dropper to buy a round of drinks.

2. What type of college class would you’d most want to take and why?
Band of Skulls: Pottery class with one of those Potter’s wheels. So we could be like a cross between Ghost and Lionel Richie’s “Hello”.

3. What city in America is the most fun to visit and why?
Band of Skulls: Los York/New Angeles. Perhaps more bars = more fun.

4. What’s some of the best advice you were ever given?
Band of Skulls: Russell: My career advisor thought I should become a gravedigger

5. What’s in heavy rotation in your MP3/CD player right now?
Band of Skulls: Free The Bees (The Bees), Man Of World (Fleetwood Mac) and early Aerosmith.

6. The last good book you read or TV show you’re addicted to.
Band of Skulls: Emma: Mad Men.
Russell: Desperate Housewives

7. What’s the first concert you ever saw - how was it?
Band of Skulls: Emma: The Blutones at Southampton Guildhall. Sweated a lot and got crushed in the moshpit.
Russell: Decon Blue at Portsmouth Guildhall, lots of keyboard sounds and ringing ears all night in bed.

8. What are three items you can’t live without on tour?
Band of Skulls: Emma: iPod, sunglasses, Berocca
Russell: Camera, notebook, many many guitars.

9. Who are your major musical influences?
Band of Skulls: Emma: Bonnie Raitt, Michelle Shocked, Tom Waits
Russell: Jimi Hendrix, Frank Sinatra, Jonny Greenwood
