C O L O R, Mandee Monet, Michael Francis, The Burning Of Rome and The Decoration are up for a spot in rotation on this round of The Freshmen.
Voting for this round of The Freshmen closes at 2pm EST Friday, July 12th.
C O L O R
Merging digital tech with vintage equipment C O L O R, aka LA’s Nelson London, creates an aggressive sound punctuated by addictive melodies. This kaleidoscopic video for “Time” is a great example. C O L O R recently signed to NYC’s Cult Records and is slated to be releasing an EP this fall.
“Messin Wit Us”
NYC’c Mandee Monet has been getting attention for her mixtapes, songwriting chops and videos like this one for “Messin Wit Us,” a song that definitely highlights the girls formidable pipes, which at times in the chorus reach Alicia Keys-Empire State Of Mind-level-awesomeness.
Michael Francis brings some soul to the frigid North Country in the video for “Nona’s Reservoir” which portrays a frontier-esque love story complete with cabins and shotguns.
The Burning Of Rome
California’s The Burning Of Rome has a penchant for inspiring poetic descriptions of their sound like “gypsy punk,” “post-apocalyptic mash-up” and “thrillingly eerie.” Watch this video for “Little Piranhas” and you’ll see why.
“There With You”
Aussie duo Jake Bosci and Rhian Thomas are The Decoration. The group crafts yummy, shimmering pop rock highlighting their chemistry and knack for songwriting as is evident in this adorable video for “There With You.”
