Today’s College Radio Countdown comes to you from WTBU, the Beat of Boston University and features BU Alum, Aesop Rock.
About WTBU
Whether it’s a basement show in Allston Rock City or a festival at the Bank of America Pavilion, WTBU recognizes that nothing brings people together like the thump of some bass. That’s why our student-run station feels the need to translate our on-air experience into something the community can see, smell, and feel together. We do concerts, public art projects, even farmers’ markets. In short, WTBU gets busy in the streets like a traffic cop during rush hour.
Because our student body, and surrounding community, is so big, there are always different sounds coming from every corner of campus. It seemed only right to try and capture all of those sounds on our countdown. From De La Soul’s old-school breaks to Diplo’s new-age drops, these songs can consistently be heard around BU. Maybe it’s their raw energy or maybe it’s their unique style. Either way these videos are driven by great music, something that’s always appreciated on campus.
Of course, we couldn’t finish off our countdown without including Aesop Rock’s latest video, “ZZZ Top,’ which, our Music Director, Laura Brubaker, calls, “a Tarantino-esque kung-fu knock-out fest.” And it doesn’t hurt that Aesop’s a BU grad either.
