Clockwork, Haim, Kinetics, The Antiheroes and The Composure all fight for a spot in rotation on this week’s Freshmen.

Clockwork

“Titan”

Clockwork is a young DJ/Producer who emerged out of the dance music blogosphere at 18 after his song “Squad Up” caught the attention of the cake-throwing, raft-riding, hit-making Steve Aoki. He’s now signed to Aoki’s Dim Mak Records, touring extensively and working with heavy weights like Tiesto. “Titan” starts out mellow but then layers deep bass, and tasty candified, electric squeals into the mix until you are forced to get off your a$$ just like the peeps in the video.

Haim

“Don’t Save Me”

Haim is LA sister act Danielle, Alana, Este and non-sister Dash Hutton. The group recently took their rocking-80s-meets-the-new-millenium sound to Columbia Records and expect to have a full length debut out early next year. Till then we can always jam their Forever EP and marvel at their slick grace and oozing hotness in the “Don’t Save Me” video below.

Kinetics & One Love ft. Wynter Gordon

“Sign Language”

Jeremy “Kinetics” Dussolliet and Tim “One Love” Sommers are, you guessed it, Kinetics & One Love. The hip hop duo have written for big time artists like Eminem and even scribed the chorus for B.o.B.’s megahit “Airplanes.” Here they bring in the soaring pipes of Wynter Gordon to assist in their hormone-fueled teen love story “Sign Language.”

The Antiheroes ft. D-Sisive

“The Rebels… (Listen Up)”

Here’s some bumpin’ hip hop out of Toronto. The Antiheroes have only been at it since 2011 but have already cultivated a fresh (or refreshing) sound that mixes the best elements of old school rap with enough contemporary edge to carry the genre forward. This video for “The Rebels…(listen Up)” blends ample doses of eye candy via art, choreography and editing in to a simple white studio backdrop. A good formula to keep the attention on the track.

The Composure

“The One”

Pittsburgh power pop punk band The Composure play your picnic perfectly in this video for “The One.” Formed in 2007 the band has paid their dues on the road and worked with some influential producers in the studio on their way to releasing their debut LP Stay The Course earlier this year.
