Boston/Brooklyn band BOYTOY just dropped a hyper, head bobbing new single called “Visits” that they recorded in a day over at the Converse Rubber Tracks studio.
The song comes out of the gate firing on all cylinders with some crunchy guitar riding over a parade of drum rolls. It only gets better from there as singer Saara Untracht-Oakner chimes in with her simultaneously sweet & raving vocal delivery and lyrics like “Are you in love?” Why yes, I am, especially when the shredding starts 64 seconds into the song. At just over two minutes long “Visits,” you are an oh-so-short but oh-so-sweet-affair that leaves me wanting more.
Fortunately, the group is recording a debut EP right now at Chris Mclaughlin’s 1867 in Chelsea, MA which Saara describes as “an old masonic temple, turned movie theater, turned music studio. We basically haven’t seen sunlight for 5 days straight. We get in around 1pm and go until about 2 or 3, get to wherever we’re crashing around 3:30 and wake up around 11am and do it all over again. Chris’s couches are comfy and we’re all super close friends so its really fun. Days start to blend together and we get pretty goofy and stupid towards the end of the night.”
If you want some more BOYTOY the group did a BTR Live session not too long ago that you can check out here. They play a pretty sick set in between humorous chat sessions about zombies and Saara’s Brazilian butt exercises of which she says “I wouldn’t claim to have gotten to a Brazilian level, but I’ll say it’s something South American.” Hot!
Upcoming shows and more at the BOYTOY Bandcamp.
