Chiddy Bang
Famous for their mixtape The Swelly Express, duo Chiddy Bang has now released the single Opposite of Adults from their debut album due out in August. Presenting the title track for Ahead of the Curve, duo Chidera Anamege and Noah Beresin were also voted in as winners of the mtvU Freshmen earlier this month.
Dominique Young Unique
At the young age of 18, Dominique Young Unique is garnering attention for her style and controversial lyrics. Signed to new production label Art Jam Records, she presents her single “Show My Ass” for Ahead of the Curve.
The Antlers
Initially the solo-project of songwriter Peter Silberman before he brought Michael Lerner and Darby Cicci aboard, The Antlers’ release of album Hospice topped many year-end lists in 2009. The group is currently on a headlining tour and will set out with The National this June. No strangers to mtvU, they play hit single “Bear” for Ahead of the Curve.
Theophilus London
This much-buzzed-about man of hip hop self-released two mixtapes and earned the respect of the industry. Now having toured with the likes of A-Trak and Jack Peñate, rapper Theophilus London has a new single, “Humdrum Town,” available on Green Label Sound.
The Drums
Set to release their first LP later this year, Brooklyn-based quintet The Drums became known for their 2009 EP Summertime! Originally formed by childhood friends Jonathan Pierce and Jacob Graham, drummer Connor Hanwink and guitarist Adam Kessler soon joined the group. Single “Best Friends,” played here for Ahead of the Curve, was released last month on label Moshi Moshi.
