Ahead Of The Curve Performances Day 2

Surfer Blood

Surfer Blood will be touring with fellow indie band The Pains of Being Pure at Heart in June. Having opened for acts like Japandroids and Cymbals Eat Guitars before they even released the guitar-driven Astro Blood earlier this year to rave reviews, it looks like this Florida group is shaping up to be one of the stand-outs of 2010.

Broken Social Scene

Ever since the debut of Feel Good Lost in 2001, Broken Social Scene has been known as one of the greats; an acclaimed indie band with a knack for producing infectious emotionally-riddled songs full of depth and poignancy. Now they are on the eve of adding the latest LP, Forgiveness Rock Record, to their discography.

Best Coast

Bethany Cosentino, who sings under the moniker Best Coast, is set to release her debut album later this year. However, the buzz is already building for this California girl on the weight of a 7″ single via label Black Iris. “When I’m With You” is the perfect summer soundtrack so get accquainted fast.

Curren$y

A protégé of Lil Wayne, Shante Anthony Franklin has been making music since his early teens. Better known by his stage name Curren$y, Franklin released countless mixtapes before dropping his debut album, aptly titled This Ain’t No Mixtape, last year.

Local Natives

These West Coast boys gained a great deal of attention with the release of their debut LP Gorilla Manor. With comparisons to other indie groups like Fleet Foxes and Grizzly Bear, Local Natives are undoubtedly in good company, proving that they can hold their own with intricate harmonies and outstanding Talking Heads covers. They bring single “Airplanes” to mtvU’s Ahead of the Curve.
