Polo Jeans Co. G.I.V.E. Grant

Winner: Ari Feldman
University of Southern California
Polo Jeans Co. Ralph Lauren and mtvU have teamed up to award one special student a $5,000 community service grant courtesy of the G.I.V.E. campaign, whose mission is to inspire and encourage volunteerism. That recipient is Ari Feldman.

A former president of the USC Beta Tau chapter of Theta Chi, Feldman is the fraternity's current standards chair and is president of the school's Hillel (Center for Jewish Life) organization. In the midst of his on-campus involvement, he recently participated in Hillel's Alternative Spring Break to Louisiana to build homes with Habitat for Humanity.

Feldman is looking to initiate a program at USC that gives inner-city youths leadership savvy and familiarity with computer technology. The group plans to go beyond mere tutoring to give high-school participants skills that will enhance their growth potential and impact their communities. The weekly afternoon program will utilize USC's store of advanced resources and access to motivational speakers, working in conjunction with local schools. The grant will be used to get the program started, including paying for speakers, providing transportation for the kids, and paying for basic supplies.
