After winning the MTV VMA Breakthrough Video Award for the scantily-clad “Lessons Learned,” mtvU says hello once again to duo Matt Johnson and Kim Schifino, members of the group (easy one here) Matt & Kim.

Coming out of Alaska by way of Portland, with most recent album The Satanic Satanist recorded in Boston, mtvU welcomes Portugal. The Man to Ahead of the Curve.

This band started with nothing but a laptop and a microphone. mtvU is happy to have The Morning Benders on Ahead of the Curve.

mtvU is pleased to have Trombone Shorty & Orleans Avenue join Ahead of the Curve; a unique talented artist, proficient on both trombone and trumpet.

mtvU gladly features The Dodos on Ahead of the Curve. Already well-known for their wild percussion and precise strings, the group welcomed the young Keaton Synder to their line-up for third album Time to Die.

mtvU brings San Francisco based group LoveLikeFire to Ahead of the Curve. Original band members Ann Yu and David Farrell are joined by Marty Mattern and Eric Amerman on the newest album Tear Ourselves Away.

mtvU is proud to present the delightful discovery of Odessa Chen. Having already worked with artists such as Wilco’s Nels Cline and on the heels of acclaim for her newest album The Ballad of Paper Ships, Chen already has a new record planned for the upcoming year.

Is Janelle Monae from another planet? Word on the street is she just might be. Mixing any musical genre from funk to grunge all while flaunting a bizarre flair for fashion; this stunning vocalist seems to encourage the rumor.

Drawing on the fairly heavy themes of love and death for inspiration, White Lies brings “Fifty on our Foreheads” to Ahead of the Curve, showcasing a softer angle that fills the space of our large set with Harry McVeigh’s echo-y vocals.
