All Eyes On Sudan

SudanThere has never been a more important opportunity for us to help ensure lasting peace in Sudan, a country that has faced years of war, genocide and unimaginable atrocities. Starting January 9th, and lasting for six days, South Sudan will vote on a referendum for independence from the North, which has the potential to push Sudan back into a state of civil war. YOU can prevent this war from ever starting by showing the world you are watching.

Here’s how:

1) WATCH: Become a peace monitor by visiting the Satellite Sentinel Project where near real-time satellite imagery and analysis, combined with video dispatches and crowd-sourced reports from local voices on the ground, will allow you to monitor potential threats of mass violence to civilians. While you’re there, you can check out other ways to stand with the people of Sudan.

2) FOLLOW: Start following @SudanSentinel on Twitter for breaking updates and alerts on Sudan so you can be the first to tell your friends what’s happening and how to take action.

3) JOIN: Sign STAND’s Pledge to Protect and join students nationwide in solidarity around the fight for lasting peace in Darfur and southern Sudan. Make your pledge to protect to show President Obama and his administration you stand in solidarity for peace.
