mtvU is MTV Networks’ Peabody and Emmy Award-winning 24-hour college network-the largest and most comprehensive media network just for college students. The heart of the channel is the emerging music students live their lives to, including music videos and a range of series profiling the up-and-coming acts bubbling on the college scene.
Broadcast to more than 750 college campuses and via top cable distributors in 700 college communities nationwide, mtvU reaches nearly 9 million U.S. college students – making it the largest, most comprehensive television network just for college students. Twenty-four hours a day, seven days a week, mtvU can be seen in the dining areas, fitness centers, student lounges and dorm rooms of campuses throughout the U.S., as well as on cable systems from Charter Communications, Verizon FiOS TV, Suddenlink Communications, AT&T u-Verse and nearly 70 others. mtvU is dedicated to every aspect of college life, reaching students everywhere they are: on-air, online and on campus. mtvU programs music videos from emerging artists that can’t be seen anywhere else, news, student life features and initiatives that give college students the tools to advance positive social change. mtvU is always on campus, with hundreds of events per year, including exclusive concerts, giveaways, shooting mtvU series and more.
Emmy-nominated Stand In features global icons like Nobel Laureate Elie Wiesel, Madonna, John McCain, Sting and Kanye West surprise-teaching a college course for the day. And each week Dean’s List gives a different college student the chance to be an mtvU VJ-for-the-day, running down their top 10 music video picks for the national college audience.
mtvU also owns and operates RateMyProfessors.com which reaches approximately 3 million college students each month, via the site’s more than 11 million student-generated ratings of over 1,000,000 college professors.
The mtvU network is a creative laboratory. With contests to find the best musicians, filmmakers, writers, digital pioneers and activists on campus, students get the chance to showcase their talents on a national stage and jumpstart their careers. mtvU is also on campus, with more than 500 events per year, including exclusive concerts, giveaways and mtvU program shoots. Further, mtvU Grants give student activists up to $1,000 every week of the school year to support their pro-social initiatives.
mtvU is part of MTV Networks, a unit of Viacom, which also includes MTV, MTV2, VH1, Nickelodeon/Nick at Nite, TV Land, Comedy Central, Spike TV, CMT and others.
